A recent innovation that makes batteries cheaper and safer \u2013 and requires manganese.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s a production shortage, which why the spot price keeps marching higher.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1072\" src=\"https:\/\/www.manganesexenergycorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/manganese-price-300x218.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"218\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.manganesexenergycorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/manganese-price-300x218.png 300w, https:\/\/www.manganesexenergycorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/manganese-price.png 660w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Manganese is increasingly being used in cathode materials.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The cathode is a battery\u2019s negatively charged electrode. Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (NMC) cathodes are made of nickel, manganese and cobalt.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1074\" src=\"https:\/\/www.manganesexenergycorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/catalyst-slide-300x159.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"159\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.manganesexenergycorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/catalyst-slide-300x159.png 300w, https:\/\/www.manganesexenergycorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/catalyst-slide.png 660w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Green Car Congress<\/span> has confirmed that NMC cathodes have improved power balance and thermal stability at a lower cost to conventional cathodes.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Manganese X (MN.V)<\/span> is developing a low-cost open-pit manganese project in Canada. There are currently no operating manganese mines in North America. Most of the supply comes from China and Africa \u2013 which brings political risks, tariffs, and transportation costs.<\/p>\n<p>MN recently completed a diamond drill program designed to evaluate three historic manganese occurrences on its Woodstock New Brunswick property.<\/p>\n<p>Drilling was completed over a 1.8 km strike length of the prospective manganese occurrence trend.<\/p>\n<p>Conclusions from the Drill Program<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The initial drill program, consisting of wide spaced drill holes, <strong>has confirmed significant widths of near surface manganese mineralization over a strike length of approximately 1.5 km<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Intersection widths of up to 87.7 m (287.7 ft) and MnO grades of up to 21.5%.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mineralization remains open to depth and along strike.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The mineralization shows good continuity<\/strong> and has been intersected from surface to vertical depths of 115 meters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But MN is not your typical exploration company.<\/p>\n<p>On September 14, 2017 \u2013 Manganese X announced, that is, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">had signed a confidentiality agreement with the University of Minnesota<\/span> to develop value added manganese products.<\/p>\n<p>According to the press release, the company \u201cwill also continue to work with the additional prominent manganese engineering companies already engaged in our various metallurgical projects.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1076\" src=\"https:\/\/www.manganesexenergycorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/manganese-matters-300x141.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"141\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.manganesexenergycorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/manganese-matters-300x141.png 300w, https:\/\/www.manganesexenergycorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/manganese-matters-768x360.png 768w, https:\/\/www.manganesexenergycorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/manganese-matters.png 770w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving the University of Minnesota on board along with our team of experts will enhance tremendously and expedite our development of our Battery Hill Woodstock New Brunswick manganese property,\u201d stated MN CEO Marin Kepman, \u201cwith the intent of being the first North American supplier of value-added materials to the lithium-ion battery and other alternative energy industries, as well as the steel industry\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>On August 24, 2017, MN announced <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the commissioning of a 43-101 mineral resource estimate and technical report<\/span> on its Battery Hill manganese property located in Carleton County, about 5 kilometers outside of Woodstock, New Brunswick.<\/p>\n<p>The technical work will include an independent study of MN\u2019s confirmation drilling programs.<\/p>\n<p>The market is reacting positively to the company\u2019s dual focus of metallurgical innovation and resource development. The 60-day chart below shows a share price increase of 90%.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1078\" src=\"https:\/\/www.manganesexenergycorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/mnv-stock-charts-300x175.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"175\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.manganesexenergycorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/mnv-stock-charts-300x175.png 300w, https:\/\/www.manganesexenergycorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/mnv-stock-charts.png 660w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Battery Hill manganese technical project will have two phases:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Phase 1:<\/strong><\/span> Preliminary deposit modelling including grade\/tonnage block model estimates, with the primary objective to establish the magnitude of potential resources,<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Phase II:<\/strong><\/span> Completion of a NI 43-101 mineral resource estimate based on the results of Phase 1 and the completion of data validation and verification,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe now have a detailed roadmap to create Canada\u2019s first high-grade manganese product,\u201d stated Kepman, \u201cOur strategic location is only 10 km from the US border. We also have access to major rail lines, making us an obvious potential supplier to the lithium-ion battery market.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Manganese has the following demand drivers.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A critical component of the cathode material in modern alkaline, lithium, and sodium batteries<\/li>\n<li>Green\/clean energy credentials \u2013 weening off fossil fuels.<\/li>\n<li>Manganese is likely to remain the preferred energy material for the future.<\/li>\n<li>Manganese is also well suited for cathode mix in bulk energy storage &amp; energy management for portable power and integrating solar and wind renewable energy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The chemical subsidiary of LG Electronics, LG Chem and 3M, have already started using NMC cathode materials in lithium-ion batteries. LG Chem supplies NMC-based Li-ion batteries to plug-in vehicles, including the Chevy Volt.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the recent share-price run, Manganese X is flying low under the radar, with a market cap of only $8.1 million.<\/p>\n<p>When the 43-101 resource estimate is completed, the valuation is likely to be higher.<\/p>\n<p><em>Full Disclosure: Manganese X used to be an Equity Guru client.
